Chicago Veg-Chicagoland Vegetarian & Vegan Community
ChicagoVeg is the largest Chicagoland community for vegetarians, vegans, and raw foodists to socialize and meet like-minded people. We organize a range of fun activities and educational events in the city and the suburbs. Whether you are vegan or not vegan, we welcome everyone who is interested in a vegan/vegetarian/raw lifestyle for any reason - ethical, environmental, health, or spiritual. We support a nonjudgmental community where everyone can feel welcome to express their opinions, socialize, and have fun! Some of the fun activities include the following: exchanging vegan recipes (raw and not raw), vegan food potlucks, dining out at local vegetarian/vegan/raw restaurants, lectures pertaining to the vegetarian/vegan/raw lifestyle, and outreach events that promote a vegan lifestyle. We see the importance of educating others about advantages of veganism/vegetarianism, and we believe that a continuous education and supportive community are vitally important to sustain a vegan/vegetarian lifestyle.

Mercy for Animals
Mercy For Animals believes that a humane society is possible. We are committed to reducing the greatest amount of suffering for the largest number of animals. Our efforts focus on protecting farmed animals—the most abused and exploited animals on the planet—and utilize a broad range of strategic approaches that seek to expose cruelty, prosecute abusers, and inspire consumers to make compassionate food choices.
Humanitarian Service Project
The Humanitarian Service Project (HSP) started in Karole & Floyd Kettering's spare room in 1979 to help needy families during the Christmas season in DuPage County by providing them with an abundance of groceries and gifts. The Christmas Offering continues today, providing 150 impoverished families with 3 weeks of groceries, frozen meats, fresh produce and gifts for all the children. In 2015, we distributed over 25 tons of food and over 10,000 Christmas gifts (minimum 3 gifts each) to 2,272 children, including all of the children from the families enrolled in the Children’s Birthday Project program and their siblings ages 3-15, and poverty-level children whose parents had no other source for gifts.
Our programs are fueled by the love and generosity of local clubs, schools, businesses, churches, and individuals who contribute both financially and through volunteering. We are committed to having the support we receive at HSP be meaningful and empowering by creating a wonderful environment for volunteers of all ages, as well as by effectively using financial contributions that we receive to impact DuPage and Kane's poor in the most significant manner possible.
